The Future Is Now

Hi Reader,

Last week I welcomed Rose Desauguste back into my classroom and her session on future-proofing your business did not disappoint. (It never does!)

Rose is the founder & CEO of Nectar Digital Group, a company that helps small and medium-sized businesses grow through innovation consulting and strategy, and by providing Fractional CMO and COO services.

Here are three game-changing approaches to leveraging AI, depending upon how 'all-in' you want to go, courtesy of Rose's deep knowledge and experience:

  1. Use What You've Already Got
Many platforms now offer data analytics insights easily provided by AI. This saves you time because you don't have to hunt for information or crunch numbers to get answers.

Platforms like Microsoft and Google have already embedded large language models (LLMs) such as ChatGPT into their platforms to help with content creation and in other ways.

Zoom's new AI Companion takes meeting notes and shares them with attendees. I've been using it with clients and in my classroom, and I'm impressed!
  2. Level Up with Custom LLMs
If you find you're always using ChatGPT for the same tasks, you can build your own custom GPT in minutes. [Log in, then click on 'Explore GPTs' from the left-hand menu.]

Train it on your voice to write emails, texts, social media content (cautiously), and much more at lightning speed.

A year ago, this required technical skills. But, the technology is improving so rapidly that, now, anyone can do it.
  3. Build Your AI Dream Team
The most advanced and beneficial way to expand your capacity is by building your own custom AI assistant, or more likely, hiring an LLM developer to do it.

Imagine having an operations assistant helping with client onboarding, data analysis, scheduling, emails, and more – all at your fingertips.

Custom AI assistants, in other words, can help you grow your business faster with fewer resources and without the stress of managing other people.

Plus, they help free up your time so you can focus on working on your business and not just in it.

The most important thing when it comes to leveraging AI is to let go of your fear and approach it in a way that fits you best.

To start, test out what you can do with it and how it can support your business. You might be surprised how useful it is in streamlining your workload and your brainload.

Of course, to learn more about how to future-proof your business and take advantage of the AI revolution, join Rose's newsletter. I have no doubt you'll quickly understand why I keep inviting her back to my classroom time and time again.

Until next time,

PS - If you missed it, last week I encouraged you to Keep Their Eyes on the Prize when raising prices.

Easily Said & Done

I help entrepreneurs leapfrog over the typical potholes that derail most small businesses with inspiration, motivation, education, and support across a wide range of business topics drawn from over a decade of running my own business, teaching entrepreneurship for the City of New York, and coaching and consulting privately with dozens of women and minority small business owners. Honestly, why go it alone when help is an email away?

Keep Their Eyes on the Prize

Hi Reader, A common question I get in class and with clients is: How do I position a price increase to my customers or clients? I'm going to share some tips, but here's what I want you to remember: The secret to a smooth change in pricing or policies isn't about the price or details, but in where you direct people's attention. When Apple or Google release their newest phone models what you hear about is all the new improvements: the better camera, longer battery life, sleek new design, and so...

It's a Juggling Act

I'm halfway through teaching another women's start-up course for NYC's Small Business Services Department and one of the biggest topics of conversations we've had is how to keep the momentum going once class ends. This isn't just something students struggle with. Every entrepreneur I know, including me, wrestles with keeping things growing while keeping their business going. Here are some of the strategies I use and/or recommend to hack your schedule and to-do lists: Time BlockingDivide your...

Who Wants to Be a Millionaire

I recently came across another business coach who shared the three things she said wealthy entrepreneurs do that most of us who did not grow up with wealth don't, which make all the difference in driving real financial success. Before I get into that, I want to stress, that everyone's revenue and income goals are different. What defines a hugely successful business and 'real wealth' isn't necessary the same for all of us. In addition, I 100% agree that these three things are critical in...
